The imports and exports of certificated opium during the year

are as follows:-

Ten chests of certificated opium were exported to Kwong Chow Wan.

Three hundred and seventy-one (371) chests of Persian opium were imported during the year, and 8 chests were exported to London, 13 chests to Singapore, and 350 chests to Formosa.

Eight hundred and sixty-nine (860) chests of uncertificated Indian opium were imported: 374 chosts for the Macao Opium Farmer, and the remaining 405 chests for the Government Opium Monopoly.

Emigration and Immigration.

Fifty-nine thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine (59,069) emigrants left Hongkong for various places during the year 1919, (43,830 in 1918). Of these, 25,303 were carried in British ships, and 34,666 in Foreign ships.
